Date Outfit Ideas That Are Sure to Impress

Whether you’re prepping for a first date, heading out on the town with your longtime sweetie, or gearing up to celebrate a major romantic occasion, these date-night outfit ideas will make you look (and feel!) fantastic, no matter what type of activity you’ll be doing.

Coffee Date

Meeting a new romantic interest at your neighborhood coffee shop? For a stress-free, no-frills (but still super cute) look, try layering a lacy little dress over your favorite tank top or t-shirt, with a pair of white sneakers (note to self: sneakers with dresses = always a good look!) It’s easy, it’s fashionable, and there’s no doubt your date will be impressed.

Brunch Date

When the mimosas are flowing like water, the waffles and avocado toast are piling up on every table, and everyone’s Instagramming their food, it can only mean one thing: Brunch! If you’re going on a brunch date, putting together a stylish-yet-casual outfit is key, since you’ll undoubtedly want to fit in with the other fashionable brunch-goers.

You can’t go wrong with a slouchy, oversized sweater and skinny jeans or boyfriend jeans and a fitted tee—both outfits are relaxed, hip, and leave plenty of room in case you decide to have an extra pancake or two—plus, you can always accessorize with a scarf or dangly earrings if you want to dress up your look a little. Just don’t forget your favorite pair of sunglasses and a light cardigan since you’ll probably be enjoying your Bloody Marys and omelets on a sunny patio.

Fancy Dinner Date

If your sweetie snagged dinner reservations at a fancy restaurant, now’s the time to pull out all the stops—after all, it’s not every day that you get to get dolled up, so don’t be afraid to bring your A-game. Been dying to wear that minidress that’s been hanging in your closet for forever? Now’s the time to bust it out! Pair it with strappy heels and some lovely accent jewelry, and you’ve got one killer date night outfit on your hands.

Dancing Date

Going out dancing? You’ll want to wear something that’s sexy, sure—but don’t wear a dress that rides up, otherwise you’ll be stuck pulling your dress down all night instead of showing off your moves on the dance floor. Splurge on a dress that fits all your curves just right, and don’t be afraid to wear something bright, colorful, or boldly patterned.

Picnic-in-the-Park Date

If the sun is shining, there’s nothing better than picking up some snacks and bringing a blanket to the park. If you’re going on a casual picnic, wear your absolute favorite pair of jeans with a cute, flowy top (bonus if it’s floral-patterned), or pretty printed shorts with a cropped cardigan, and be sure to bring along a cute backpack to store your picnic goodies in (and accessorize with). The idea is to look relaxed and outdoorsy, yet adorable.

Art Museum Date

For a trip to an art museum, it’s time to get creative and confident: Pick a bold-patterned top and neutral pants, or when in doubt, go with an all-black ensemble, like your hottest black leather jacket and black jeans. You could even go with a fancy dress, just pair it with a rocker-chic bomber jacket for an edgier look. Don’t worry, you’ll fit right in with the artsy crowd.

Movie Date

Headed out to see the new Avengers movie with your main squeeze? If you know you’ll be sitting in a cold, darkened theater and probably chowing down on a big vat of buttery popcorn, strategy is crucial: Now’s not the time to wear a nice cocktail dress with spaghetti straps.

For a casual movie date, when you need something sexy that’ll still feel comfy for two hours, you can’t go wrong with a maxi skirt. Pair it with a fitted jean jacket and cute sneakers for a pared-down, on-trend look.

Sports Date

Are you and your sweetheart the sporty types? If you’re planning a hike, bike ride, or other physical activity for your date, it’s definitely important to dress appropriately. (No wedge heels or short skirts!) Go with a casual pair of jeans and good walking shoes for this one; just wear a cute, cozy tee and keep everything fitted to avoid looking too sloppy.

Scenic Drive Date

If your significant other suggests a drive through the mountains with the top down, you have a few outfit ideas to decide between. First off, it’s important to dress comfortably if you’re going to be in the car for a while. Consider your most comfortable pair of jeans or jeggings to avoid the constant stress of adjusting a skirt or dress. Top this look off with your best white t-shirt and accessorize with a choker and unique bracelets. This will ensure that whether your long drive entails a luxury SUV or a flashy sports car, you’ll be sitting pretty – literally.

Regardless of whether you’re planning to go out dancing, see a movie, or have a picnic in the park, if you want to put an end to the what-should-I-wear dilemma once and for all, it helps to plan out your date outfits in advance. Just remember: Confidence is the most important element of any outfit, so don’t wear something you’re uncomfortable in just because it “looks cool.” Jeans that dig into your stomach, painful heels, and ill-fitting shirts are a no-go—keep it comfortable (yet stylish!), stay on top of trends, and always wear what feels best to you.

7 Functional and Unique Bridesmaids’ Gift Ideas

Your wedding is a special day that’s best shared with friends and family. Your bridesmaids help make your experience extra-special, so you want to show them appreciation. Bridesmaids gifts are a great way to commemorate the occasion.

There are plenty of products marked “bridesmaid” on the market. These are cute on the actual day, but after the wedding has passed, who’s going to want to wear a T-shirt that says “bridesmaid” to the grocery store? Instead, choose something unique and memorable to give your bridesmaids that they will treasure.

Here’s a list of some functional and unique bridesmaid gift ideas. Choose something that’s right for your girls’ personalities, your time limits, and your budget.

1. Picture Frame

A picture frame is a thoughtful and relatively low-cost option. Have your photographer take a shot with you and each of your bridesmaids. Perhaps you can designate a spot after the ceremony where you want this to happen (for example, in front of the wedding arch or a particularly nice view), or instruct your photographer to get candids of each of you.

You can gift each girl the frame before the wedding and let them know you’ll send a photo as soon as you receive them from your photographer. Then, print the best shot and send it to your bridesmaid after the wedding.

2. Experiences

The memory of an experience can last much longer than a physical object. Why not gift your bridesmaids with something fun? Treat them to a mani-pedi before the wedding. They’ll look good and you can bond over being pampered. Remember to pre-book this event well in advance to ensure all your bridesmaids can attend. Many salons even offer wine or let you bring in your own.

A winery tour is another great experience gift. Find a wine tasting tour near you. If you want to make a whole day of it, many offer shuttles, limos, or buses to all the various places.

If wine and nails aren’t your thing, consider a relaxing day at the spa. Schedule massages or facials (or both) for your bridesmaids before the wedding. It will help them relax and look their best. There are spa retreats located all over the United States. As a bonus, many are nearby wineries and also offer nail services, so if you’re ambitious, you can combine all three!

3. Jewelry

Everyone likes a pretty new pair of earrings or a necklace. For a personalized twist, get them monogrammed jewelry.

Or, because you know your bridesmaids better than anyone, you can choose something that suits each person’s individual style, like dangling earrings, delicate chains, or bold chokers.

4. Customized Practical Items

If you want to stay on the practical side of things, you can get customized accessories for everyday items.  Water bottles will be used every day. At Zazzle, you can add your own image or logo and there’s no minimum order requirement. Lively Bottle offers customization or ready-made designs.

Personalized phone cases are another special yet functional gift. Just be sure to get all the makes and models of your bridesmaids’ phones first.

A personalized mirror compact is a handy gift to give, too. It’s something the bridesmaids will use constantly. You can add their names, a favorite quote from a movie or show you all like, an inspirational message, or an inside joke.

If your budget allows it, consider a customized backpack or carry-on size bag. This allows your girls to remember your special day for years to come. It can travel with them as they move across the country or just for an overnight trip!

5. Totes

On the note of bags, totes are a great item to have, especially if your bridesmaids do a lot of traveling. They may even be traveling to your wedding and would appreciate a tote. A customized tote would be a fantastic and practical gift for your loved ones. It’s also great to use for the beach. Every time they use it, they’ll think of you. Add a monogram to make the gift stand out even more.

Create your own at By Malka!

6. Shoes

If your wedding venue requires your girls to wear a certain type of shoe, why not gift your bridesmaids venue-appropriate shoes? Wedge sandals or espadrilles won’t sink into the ground and of course, can be re-worn. These may especially be appreciated at destination weddings, where it would be one less thing for them to worry about packing.

If you’re concerned about getting shoes that will fit everyone, some cute flip-flops would fit the bill. Some places even sell them in bulk for wedding guests! Let your girls and guests kick off their shoes and slip into something for comfortable.

7. Monogrammed Pajamas

Satin pajamas personalized with your bridesmaids’ names or initials will be worn over and over again.. Hang out in the pajamas while getting ready (these button at the front so they won’t have to pull it over their heads, ruining their make-up).

The possibilities for bridesmaids’ gifts are limited only by your imagination (and wallet). Get creative and think about what the women in your life need or what kinds of splurges they would love. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show these ladies how much you appreciate and honor their presence in your life.

6 Ways to Make a Simple Outfit Pop

Simple outfits are the foundation of fashion – a plain cake waiting to be decorated.   Just a few basic wardrobe essentials can be worn an endless number of ways if you know what you’re doing. A little black dress (LBD) in a classic silhouette can be dressed up for a wedding, worn to work, or hit a poolside barbecue. A T-shirt and jeans that fit well can go from rock-star glam to casual brunches.

But how can you make a simple outfit appropriate for any occasion? More important, how can you make an outfit pop and stand out in a crowd?

One word: accessories. These can be switched out and combined to liven up all your classic outfits. Choose from among these options to give yourself some personality and flair.

1. Nails

People don’t usually think of nails as an accessory the same way they think of purses and shoes, but they definitely can be, depending on their finish.

One easy way to make your look stand out is by having a statement nail. Bright colored nail polish, unique patterns, and glued-on pearls are just a few of this year’s top nail trends. You can get these looks with regular nail polish or with nail tips, in a nail salon or at home.

Some people naturally gravitate toward longer nails. If you’re undecided, longer nails are great for formal occasions, while for more casual outings, you might want to keep them short and sweet.

Rock your favorite LBD with a bright red polish on coffin shaped nails for your next cocktail or dinner party. There’s no doubt you’ll turn heads and get compliments on that duo.

2. Handbags

A stylish handbag is something you can swap out readily every day. Macramé, woven, or straw handbags are one of the top trends this year. As a bonus, it’s possible to find bags that are created from sustainable materials, an important consideration for those trying to live more sustainably. These purses are perfect for a casual, yet distinctive look. Look for a purse with a daring design or bright colors that expresses your personality and make it the focal point of your outfit.

Does the occasion call for something a bit dressier? Try accessorizing with a classy clutch in a head-turning design. Many clutches come with straps to turn into hands-free cross-body bags too, so you can use it for many different types of events.

3. Jewelry

Jewelry is one of the best ways to change up your outfit. Bigger pieces act as a focal point, especially when they’re in intense colors or sparkling hues.

Earrings: Some earring trends include resin or enamel earrings in large-scale designs and different metals to make unique statement earrings. Dangling earrings always make your neck look longer and draw attention to your face.

Necklaces: As far as necklaces, look for delicate gold chains that you can layer and unique chokers that will have your peers inspired.

Bracelets: A really distinctive bracelet can set off an entire outfit. Try a big cuff or something delicately beaded to make your look absolutely unique. Consider wearing your everyday watch with layers bangles or a leather wrap bracelet.

Rings: Bold rings also demand attention. Consider laying different metals and sizes across your hands for a real statement look. For more relaxed environment, pick a different finger on each hand to decorate with rings. Just wearing one can change the whole attitude of a simple outfit, making a black dress whimsical or jeans and a T-shirt sexy.

4. Outerwear

Depending on where you’re going, you can really change up your look by adding a jacket. A blazer will dress up a pair of jeans into casual business wear or make a sleeveless black dress suitable for the office. A kimono jacket is a pretty, romantic look that softens the streetwear hardness of denim.  A cardigan sweater worn with a pair of jeans gives your outfit a preppy, feminine air. Try it oversized or belted for a whole new look.

A printed, 90s-throwback bomber jacket is a cool twist on plain-material coverings.  And of course, a leather motorcycle jacket added to any outfit will instantly give you a rock-star flair with a tough edge.

5. Shoes

Nothing sets the mood for an outfit like footwear. Shoes give you the opportunity to add flare to any simple outfit. For example, leather boots provide a fierce look to the femininity of a little black dress, making the outfit less delicate. Knee-high riding boots always stand out in a crowd and likewise can balance out the sweetness of a dress. Or, wear either with your jeans for an all-around street-ready look.

A pair of stilettos in a fun color, like red or silver, can instantly take any outfit to date night or the club. Pair these shoes with a basic dress or go for a more casual look by adding stilettos to a black jean outfit.

Consider comfort when traveling any sort of distance, too. If you need to do some walking but want to look a little dressier, a low-heeled ankle bootie goes well with long skirts or slightly cuffed jeans. Sandals worn with any outfit make it instantly appropriate for any outdoorsy spring or summer occasion—choose a style that’s both practical and fashionable. If you’re headed to the beach, choose a shoe that pairs well with your cover up, for a beach-ready outfit.

6. Tights

One of the simplest ways to give a twist to the little black dress is to add a pair of unique tights. Lacy, polka-dotted, or colored, tights add a stylish flair to a simple outfit. Try a bold color or pattern to really stand out. Consider wearing tights under your most distressed jeans, to add a distinctive flare to an otherwise basic outfit.

No matter what accessories you choose, remember that if you let your personality shine through, you can’t go wrong. Online accessory shopping can be the perfect way to spring up your simple outfits. Have fun and be bold!

6 Items Every Woman Needs In Her Wardrobe

Fashion can take many forms. Not only is fashion a way to protect you against the elements, but it also serves as a means to express yourself. The best quality of fashion is that it is both a language and an art form. Just a few simple additions to your outfit can have a tremendous effect, oftentimes boosting your confidence through the roof.

The idea of having closet essentials is both exciting and intimidating. How are you supposed to find items that play such a substantial role in your wardrobe? We are here to help streamline your wardrobe so that picking the perfect outfit is painless and easy. While no two styles are identical, there are a handful of wardrobe staples that every woman should have in their closets regardless of your daily “look.” Here are the six items every woman needs in her wardrobe:

Little Black Dress
The timeless Little Black Dress, or ‘LBD’, is an absolute must-have for your wardrobe. The term “little black dress” was first used in 1926, in an American Vogue illustration of Coco Chanel’s first black ‘Ford.’ It has since emerged as a staple suitable for a wide array of social events.

An LBD, while simple, is a versatile piece that has survived the tumultuous ongoings of the ever-growing fashion industry. An LBD can easily be dressed up or down and looks great on anybody (note: the color black does wonders). Plus, they are easy and comfortable whether you’re headed to a pedicure or to an important business meeting. Throw on a moto jacket and booties or some classic pearl earrings to serve some seriously righteous looks.

White Sneakers
Like the LBD, white sneaks have emerged as another basic staple that should find a home in every woman’s closet. Household brand names like Adidas, Reebok, and K-Swiss and high-end, luxury names like Gucci and Balenciaga have catapulted these delightfully simple staple pieces to the forefront of the fashion industry.

White sneakers were initially introduced to the market in the 80s and 90s. Today, white sneakers are a part of the retro fashion revival that has completely taken over contemporary street fashion. This wardrobe must-have makes the day a breeze by allowing an easy transition from work, to the gym, and out on the town.  Pair your white kicks with an LBD and a denim jacket for an effortlessly casual look.

Gold Necklace
Regardless of how many necklaces you own, delicate gold chains are the types of accessories that you’ll most likely be wearing on the day-to-day. They can be easily paired with other items in your closet and they’ll never go out of style. One of the best aspects of fine jewelry is that these items are easy to layer with other necklaces that you have in your closet. Similar to clothing, layering jewelry adds dimension and can be the defining factor to tie your look together.

An “everyday” bag
Having an “everyday” bag that is ideally unbranded and neutral-colored is another essential piece that every woman should have in her closet. As women, we are already well aware of our limited pocket space, and so it’s important to purchase a bag that has enough space to hold all of your belongings. This bag should also be sturdy enough to handle everyday wear and tear.

Plain White Tee
Plain white tees are another basic must-have that you can dress up or dress down. It’s one of the most versatile pieces that you will ever get your hands on, so it’s important to have a few in your closet. A white tee is also a great addition to a comfortable travel outfit.

Pair your white tee with a pair of boyfriend-cut jeans, a trendy brown belt and cute wedge for something comfortable and casual. Or, spruce it up a big with a skirt and some simple accessories—the choice is yours. All you need to know is that with a plain white tee, any look is perfectly achievable.

A Collared Shirt
Collared shirts are the types of items that look good with almost anything you pair it with. Whether you’re headed to a night out on the town or to your weekly business meeting, a collared shirt is both comfortable and versatile. This shirt has been reinvented in many different colors, shapes, and forms from your classic striped button down, to a modern deconstructed, off-the-shoulder blouse.

Wear it with solid color jeans or mix it up with a printed skirt for something more fun and daring (striped shirts look amazing with bright colors and animal prints.) Tuck it into a denim skirt for some feminine flair, layer it with a sweater, or try throwing it over a crop top. Keep a few of these shirts in different colors and patterns and they’ll surely get good use.

While plenty of these items seem basic, it’s important to remember that these are the items that make up the majority of your looks. They’re meant to help build a wardrobe that you’ll be able to pull ensembles out of every single day. These kinds of closets are enduring, and allow you to eliminate the stress when you’re trying to put an outfit together.  Whether you’re going for an easy, breezy casual look to take a trip to the supermarket or full-on star-studded glam look, these wardrobe essentials will be able to fully prepare you, no matter the occasion.

8 Comfortable Yet Stylish Outfits to Wear While Traveling

Travel can be an uncomfortable experience, but it doesn’t have to be! Often times you’re squished into a tight seat, the temperature is either too hot or too cold, and it’s hard to relax until you get to your final destination.

Here are a few outfit ideas to consider for your next trip to ensure that you’re comfortable in whatever travel situation you find yourself in.

Refined Cozy

While it’s not ideal, it’s sometimes necessary to travel in business attire. If you’re headed straight to the office, consider these outfit ideas first. White or black ankle-length dress pants are always appropriate for business attire, plus they allow for flexibility with the rest of the outfit. Pair them with a button-down, collared shirt and some cozy slip-on shoes, like ballet slippers or flats. It’s the perfect type of shoe to pop on and off easily while traveling, plus you won’t blister your heels. 4 Fashion Trends Taking Charge in 2019

We know you were just getting into the swing of things with your winter wardrobe. That said, now that 2018 is behind us, it’s time to start thinking about the upcoming fashion trends taking charge in 2019. Don’t worry—spring isn’t quite here yet, so there are a couple of months to transition your wardrobe for the new season.

If you’re already feeling the pressure to immediately clean out your closet, we suggest a piecemeal approach. Purchase one thing at a time, stick to trends that work for you, and don’t feel like you need to completely revamp your look. Trends can be subtly woven in, in the ways that work for you and your budget. That’s what true style is all about.

Here’s what fashion trends you can expect as 2019 rolls on:

BIKE SHORTS

While bike shorts are certainly an unexpected twist in fashion trends, they are an easy addition to your new wardrobe. You might be asking yourself, bike shorts are for the Tour de France, not Paris Fashion Week, right? Believe it or not, elevated bike shorts as a trend have been slowly creeping into the fashion world since 2018, when Off-White’s Spring runway collection prominently featured the look. They’ve since appeared in a number of Spring 2019 shows, and everyone – from Fashionista to Women’s Wear Daily – is forecasting them as one of the hottest trends of 2019.

Bike shorts are surprisingly versatile and easy to style. You can dress them up with a loose fitting blazer, pumps, and a chunky, top handle bag. Another one of our favorite looks is to wear them under your favorite slip dress that’s just a touch too short. They add a unique flare and are a great way to add a subtle splash of color to any look.

NEONS

Remember neon? It seems like the last time we saw neon was sometime during the mid-aughts. Neon is one of those trends that comes to us in waves every couple of years and we are pleased to announce the look’s addition to 2019 fashion trends.

Neon is great because it can be bold subtle and bold. You can go with a luminous statement dress, or you can use it as an accent on a more down-to-earth look. in 2019, try to complement neon accents with more sober color palettes. One way to incorporate neon into your wardrobe is to wear a pair of neon earrings with a black dress, or pair neon stilettos with simple jeans and a cotton tee.

Neon is interesting because it pairs well with a larger profile of colors than you might expect it to. Whether you’re wearing neon with more neutral colors, jewel tones, or other neon, you’ll be impressed with how it livens up your look this year.

PVC AND LATEX

In 2018, PVC and latex were popular materials in accessories, and according to StyleCaster, they’re back in a big way in 2019. Expect to see PVC and latex coats, skirts, bags, shoes, dresses, and pants…everywhere. Although they’re fun, eye-catching, and definitely a breath of fresh air from the usual fashion fare, they’re not immediately intuitive materials to style. We recommend limiting how many PVC or latex pieces you include in a look because they can quickly become hot and uncomfortable.

In addition to that, it can be difficult to find a shape that works well with your body type. One easy work around for this is picking up a pair of PVC or latex leggings. They work well with most body shapes and you won’t get as overheated in them as you might in a full PVC or latex dress. When styling a full look, keep mind that the materials are best paired with light, simple embellishments, like this drum gold chain necklace.

FRINGE, FRINGE, FRINGE

Fringing is all the rage right now, and it’s a trend that’s going international. One explanation for this might be the “modern hippie” renaissance that’s going on in the fashion world. We’re also seeing a resurgence of tie-dye, wider cut pants, feathers-as-accessories, and denim vests. Fringe is a great look on everything from dresses to blouses, but we love it most on purses.

We hope you’re as excited for the trends ahead as we are. So far, the 2019 trend forecast is fun, youthful, and most importantly, easy. The looks we’re seeing pop up across runway shows and on racks work for every body type and price point. If you’re feeling a little shy, our general recommendation is to test with accessories before committing to the full look. It’s one of the best ways to see if a look is working for you, without the hassle of having to dive into the deep end with something that might be less familiar.
