A Guide to Latam’s Capital: Bogota

Bogota is not only our hometown but one of the coolest city in South America. Colombia’s capital city will delight you with great museums and historic sites, delicious restaurants, amazing shopping and a truly unique nightlife.

Getting there

If you are travelling from the States, you can fly directly from all mayor cities: Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Atlanta, New York, New Jersey and Los Angeles. There are also direct flights from Europe’s mayor hubs: Barcelona, Madrid, London, Paris and Frankfurt. And if you are travelling from other countries in South America, there are direct flights available from almost all capital cities.

Where to stay

Some of our favorite picks are: The Four Seasons Bogota, W Hotel Bogota, The Click Clack Hotel, JW Marriott Hotel, Sofitel Bogota and the Casa Medina Four Seasons Bogota.

Where to go

The following are our top-ranked museums: The Gold Museum, The Colombian National Museum, The Botero Museum, Museo Quinta de Bolivar and the Contemporary Art Museum. Other must see sites are: La Candelaria, The Bolivar Square and Bogota’s Botanical Garden.

Where to eat

Bogota is well known for being a culinary experience! You will delight yourself with traditional Colombian cuisine, as well as international tastes from all over the world. We highly recommend: Andres Carne de Res (a definite must go), Casa Restaurant, La Brasserie, Primi, Juana la Loca, Lorenzo el Griego, Il Tinello, Vitto, Madre, Rafael, Masa, (specially good for brunch and breakfast) and last but not least: Osaka.

Where to shop

The city’s most popular shopping malls are probably el Andino, Atlantis and el Retiro. But we personally like other hidden gems like La Calle de los anticuarios, where you will find one-of-a-kind antiques as well as other cool boutiques like St Dom, which carries the best Colombian designers (many of the ones we also have at By Malka). Other cute shops are: Casa Precis, Casa Santamaria and one our personal favorites: Silvia Tcherassi’s store at the la zona T. Also, if you happen to be in the city during the weeks when the Feria Buro takes place, make sure to not miss this one!

Where to fiesta

If you want a unique party experience like no other (we truly mean it, nowhere in the world), you NEED to go to Andres Carne de Res Chia on a Saturday night, we assure you the drive will be worth it. Other hot places are: Floyd, Armando Records and Video Club.

We hope you enjoy our magical city: BOGOTA!
